Hydrophilic or Hydrophobic glass?

Q: "What is 'Ordinary Glass'?"

Basically, water doesn't flow perfectly from ordinary glass, it tends to make little spots of water. This is due to surface tension, an atomic thing. Surface tension is responsible for all spotting and drops we see on any shiny surface, and is what leads to water spots on them as the water dries.

Fan jets can help with rinsing the impurities away and making sure there is nothing to mark the windows when the water dries.

The addition of a liquid such as Vision 2 to the water helps to break this surface tension down and create an effect more like hydrophilic glass.

Q: "What is 'Hydrophilic Glass'?"

This is a kind of glass that affects the surface tension of the water and makes it less likely to collect drops of water. The water tends to just drain away, all of it together, with no spots left behind. This is ideal for waterfed window cleaning.

Even though above hydrophilic glass is often viewd as the gold standard for window cleaners, the addition of a liquid such as Vision 2 to the water makes it even better.

Q: "What is 'Hydrophobic Glass'?"

Sometimes called 'self cleaning glass', this stuff is worse to clean than ordinary glass! It amplifies the surface tension in the water and makes it create droplets even worse than normal. This makes it a pain to clean with waterfed poles.
