Modular WFP Poles
Q: "What is WFP?"
This means 'Water Fed Pole' and our whole website section of items related to these poles.
Q: "What is a Modular Pole?"
Any pole that is made by assembling a number of sections to adjust the pole length. This is different to Telescopic Poles ⇘ which are always kept in one piece but can be opened or closed to adjust the length.
Q: "Why Choose a Modular Pole?"
Generally the lightest poles are Modular. Our Modulite Poles are incredibly light. Something like half the weight of the overall pole is just the brush on the top! This makes them very nice to use.
Q: "What is the Brush?"
The brush is the part that actually touches the window. There is a complete Questions Colleagues Ask - Answers For The Simple - Brushes section.
Q: "What is the Gooseneck?"
This is an adapter between the pole itself and the brush on the top. It can be in the form of a fixed gooseneck ⇗ or a plastic angle adapter.
Q: "What is Pole Tubing?"
This is the small pipe that runs up the pole to carry the water up to the brush.
Q: "What is the Connector?"
The tubing going up the pole needs to have a quick release connector on the bottom so it can be plugged onto the hose coming from the customer's van. He can choose what type of connector. For more information see the fittings page.
Q: "Are There Any Downsides To Using A Modular Pole?"
FRAGILE: Modulite Poles ⇗ are rather delicate. The sections are in the form of a tube with a very thin wall thickness. They can be crushed or split easily if knocked too hard or put down a bit too fast. It doesn't need to be a big knock on the pole to do this damage. If a customer is used to a Telescopic Pole, which is more able to absorb knocks and bangs, he will have to really remember to be slow and careful with this pole.
LITTLE ADJUSTABILITY: Because the sections of these poles are of a certain (fixed) length and you have to add extra ones to make the pole longer, or remove some to shorten the pole. On our Modulite Poles ⇗ each section is 6ft long so the pole length can be lengthened or shortened by 6ft only.
FIDDLY: Seeing as sections have to be added or removed to adjust the height of these poles they can be a bit fiddly to assemble and dismantle. By the time you realise you need an extra section to reach higher windows you have already set the pole up against the building ready to clean. This means you have to either lower it to lay it down on the ground and then add a section and raise the pole again, or you have to stand it against the building in a way it can't fall over. Then you have to go to the van, get another section or two and come back. It's a two hand job to add a section, so how do you hold another spare section at the same time? It's the same in removing sections, making it really a two person job for high poles.
For these reasons Modular poles are best suited to large jobs where many windows are in the same area and at the same height. Schools, hotels, blocks of houses are ideal.
Q: "Why Choose a Modulite Pole?"
Modulite Poles are incredibly light. About half of the weight you hold when working with it is just the brush on the top!
If weight or comfort is important these poles are unrivalled and customers are never disappointed.
