What is Waterfed Window Cleaning?
Q: "How does Waterfed Window Cleaning work?"
The basic process is very simple:
- Wash the window with deionised water.
- Work the water on the glass with the brush, giving extra attention to the areas needing more scrubbing.
- Rinse the window off with the flowing water from the brush.
- Leave the window wet.
Q: "What chemicals do I need for Waterfed window cleaning?"
- You usually don't need any although it can be very helpful in some cases. One example is for the most stubborn or special jobs, like conservatory roof cleaning. For this you can use an with Unger Soap Dispenser. After applying the soap it can sometimes be good to scrub it and lather the soap into a foam to make it stick to the surface you are cleaning for a while. Afterwards it is essential to rinse it all away with the pure water.
- There are also the popular chemical additives for pure water called Vision 2, or Enigma. Adding these to the water can help make glass respond more like hydrophillic glass.
- Otherwise the deionised water and brushing does the main work in waterfed window cleaning.
Q: "Do I need a ladder with Waterfed window cleaning?"
- Not normally, no!
- For this you would use poles. Either a telescopic one or a modular one.
- Some window cleaners are tempted to stand on a ladder to get a bit of extra reach for some jobs but this is dangerous and not recommended.
- You might need a ladder to access some areas of your work, like back windows. But this is just a standard part of working in inaccessible areas.
Q: "Can I work from a cradle when Waterfed window cleaning?"
Q: "Can I abseil when Waterfed window cleaning?"
- In principle yes. Most window cleaning done this way is from a gondola rather than when abseiling.
- It's generally best to use short poles for this. Our shorter Spot-Lite poles are good candidates.
