Protectakote 1L Anti Slip paint
Standard Protectakote is a tough yet flexible aromatic polyurethane that uses irregular rubber crumb to give a highly textured anti slip finish that is also non abrasive and extremely hard wearing. Available in a range of dark colours it is ideal for many applications.
Standard Protectakote is a unique formula aromatic polyurethane, incorporating rubber granules to give a tough flexible anti-slip (Nb. whilst often referred to as non-slip it is impossible to ever have a completely non-slip finish) finish that will not flake, chip or peel. It is a moisture cured single component Polyurethane so it can be easily applied to almost any surface including metal, concrete, wood, fibreglass, plastic and rubber leaving an attractive textured anti-slip finish that is resistant to impacts.
A one litre tin will cover approximately 1.5 m² (15 sq feet) with the recommended two coats.
To get an even finish with Protectakote it should be applied with a textured honeycomb roller these are available in our Protectakote rollers & brushes section. They are available in a large variety of sizes to suit different applications which include a large diameter 3" roller which is ideal for painting the corrugated metal backs of pick-ups and vans.
The only solvent suitable for use with Protectakote for cleaning and dilution is Xylene, do NOT use Xylene blends that contain any other solvent such as isopropyl alcohol as that will prevent the Protectakote from curing.
Suitable Areas of Use:
Typical areas of use include the load areas of vans, pick ups and lorries, tail lifts, walk ways, steps, fire escapes, access ramps, safety areas around equipment, drain covers, play equipment, boat decks etc etc.
Timber:
Lightly abrade to fresh wood, clean with Xylene dampened cloth, allow to dry thoroughly. With treated timber such as decking the first coat should be diluted by 10% with Xylene. The moisture content of the timber should be below 20%, oil rich timber should be solvent wiped with Xylene before the application.
Ply:
Marine & Class 3 ply treat as Timber (see above).
Class 1 and 2 ply should be sealed with dilute PVA and allowed to dry completely before application, the dilute PVA should be applied so that it completely soaks in to the ply. Where a waterproof barrier is required Duraprime can be used.
